Vad händer när byggentreprenör väljer brandskyddat trä med ett brandskyddsmedel som inte har beständiga egenskaper?
Jo det urlakar stora summor pengar från byggherrens plånbok eftersom all panel måste rivas ned och ersättas med ny.
Vem bär då ansvaret för byggnadsverkets brandsäkerhet? Jo det är byggherren men eftersom byggentreprenören valt att inte följa föreskriven produkt utan istället väljer en ”likvärdig produkt” som inte har dokumenterade egenskaper så faller ekonomisk skadestånd ner på byggentreprenören. Ironiskt nog så faller inte ansvaret ner på leverantören av brandskyddat trä eftersom det är nedströmsanvändarens ansvar att säkerställa produktens egenskaper när avsteg från föreskriven produkt skett.
Det är utan tvekan billigare att genomföra upphandling av en föreskriven produkt vars egenskaper godkänts av sakkunnig brand istället för att chansa på lovord från leverantör som inte kan påvisa tredjepart organ certifierad dokumentation bara för att spara några kronor.
