The 5th World Conference on Floating Solutions 2025 brings global expertise to Espoo, Finland, shaping resilient cities and sustainable waterfronts by integrating floating construction into urban planning and the blue economy.
During 1–3 September 2025, experts, innovators and policy makers will gather at Hanaholmen in Espoo for the
5th World Conference on Floating Solutions (WCFS 2025). With rising seas and shrinking land areas forcing cities to rethink their growth, floating infrastructures are no longer a futuristic idea – they are a practical solution for sustainable urban development.
The WCFS was launched in 2019 in Singapore and has since been hosted in Rotterdam (online), Tokyo, and Hong Kong. The 2025 edition will be the first held in Europe. Finland, already home to landmark projects like Allas Sea Pool and ongoing Verkkosaari marina and floating housing project, now positions itself at the centre of global floating innovation by hosting the WCFS series in the Nordics for the first time.
The conference focuses on developing floating construction solutions to address global urban planning and sustainability challenges, such as the lack of land, rising land costs, global warming, and rising sea levels.
Climate change, urbanization, and land use challenges are forcing cities, real estate investors, infrastructure developers, and energy sector players to look for new solutions on water as well.
Event is hosted by Finnish floating solutions pioneer Bluet Oy in collaboration with the Society of Floating Solutions (Singapore) and other local and global partners.
“Floating solutions are no longer only futuristic dreams — they are feasible, viable answers to today’s urban planning and climate challenges,” says Tytti Sirola, CEO of Bluet and Chair of the WCFS 2025 Organizing Committee. “We are proud to bring this global conversation to Finland, where innovation is already afloat.”
The WCFS2025 conference is structured around two main program days: an Academic Day on Monday with around 100 scientific and research abstracts on ground-breaking research, development and future innovations on floating solutions. On Tuesday, during the Business Forum, the focus will shift to global cooperation, regulation, urban development and various investment opportunities, as well as corporate product solutions and services. Tuesday will also feature a customised face-to-face networking event in cooperation with the Enterprise Europe Network. Highlights include panellists and keynote speakers from cities and private institutes presenting innovations in large floating structures, governance, investment opportunities and climate resilient design.
